The Road to Ogunquit
We left Boston and headed north.
The first part of the journey was pretty much what you would expect from a road trip. Highways, traffic, bridges and plenty of road ahead.
Then we crossed into Maine.
And there it was:
“WELCOME HOME.”
We had just arrived.
So apparently, Maine was already making us feel at home. 😄

As we got closer to Ogunquit, the journey began to change.
The big highway gave way to smaller roads, little shops, people walking around and the unmistakable feeling that we had entered a seaside town.

And then we started noticing the little things.
A colorful crosswalk.
An old car that looked as though it had been waiting patiently for its photograph.
A shop called The Buoy Guy.

Ogunquit clearly wasn’t trying too hard to impress us.
It simply had its own personality.
Then we reached Perkins Cove.
The roads gave way to water, boats and rocky shores.

A little boat came quietly through the channel.

And the setting sun was turning the harbour into something completely different.

We had started the evening on a highway.
We ended it watching boats sit quietly on the water beneath a spectacular sky.
Perhaps that’s what I liked about the trip.
The road took us to Ogunquit.
But the little things along the way made us notice where we had arrived.
Maybe a good journey isn’t just about getting somewhere.
Sometimes, the journey slowly changes the way we see the place we’re going. 😊
