Metamorphis of the Spirit and Mind – A Cats-eye view

Purr-fectly Blissful

I’ve got a shiver in the dark. It’s raining in the park. But meantime, I scamper onto the shelter of the grand old tree.

I’m a black cat. I’m nothing but bad luck. Something evil that is passing by.

People get spooked when they see me in the dark. Or when I cross the street, it’s sure to spoil their day.

I’m an enigmatic creature. I bring misfortune in mysterious ways.

But right now, it’s none of these that are giving me negative vibes.

It’s the rain.

I don’t like rain. It messes up my lovely shiny black fur.

And then I see this weirdo. Small, green, and fuzzy.

Munching on something under the cover of a big leaf. He is different from anything I have seen before.

He’s got this unique pattern on his back and the most curious eyes that twinkle like raindrops.

He’s engrossed in his own world.

I sneak up to him and flash my best smile.

He reluctantly raises his head. Eyes me suspiciously. And goes back to his munching.

So I decide to intrude on his privacy from a discreet distance.

The raindrops don’t bother him. The darkness of the night is fine for him. Even a strange black cat staring at him with glowing eyes doesn’t worry him.

Finally, the rain’s subsiding. And I have better things to do than watch this weirdo eating as if there’s no tomorrow.

All this eating is making me hungry.

Time for dinner. Time to run. I can see from the corner of my eyes that the weirdo doesn’t care whether I’m leaving.

I wake up in the morning and the sun begins to shine. The day just sneaked up on the night.

I stretch myself. I groom myself. And have a little sip of milk.

And I now need to check out the weirdo. I hope he hasn’t burst his belly.

I walk across the park. The weirdo is in the same place.

But he’s now busy spinning a silky cocoon around himself.

And he continues to ignore me.

Yet, I watch him for hours.

I come every day.

And the days pass. And finally, the cocoon begins to quiver.

And as I watch, a tiny hole appears in the cocoon.

Amid the intense moments, there emerges a beautiful butterfly.

I am struck with awe at this metamorphosis. What a transformation!

The butterfly flutters above my head and settles down in the fresh green grass. And flashes the happiest smile at me.

I owe you an explanation, he confesses.

And the butterfly explains in vivid detail.

This was a journey of self-discovery, where one sheds their old self and emerges as a new being.

The butterfly’s experience of transformation strikes an evocative chord within me.

I walk back home pondering.

Am I not trapped in a cycle of negativity and self-doubt? Always seeking validation from the outside world.

Just like the caterpillar didn’t I too have the power to transform and find bliss within myself?

At dawn, I wake up as a new cat.

I have set out on a journey of self-discovery. Now I don’t worry about what others think of me. I am focused on finding joy and peace from within.

I’m learning to love myself, flaws and all.

Now I am a black cat who is on a path of seeking true happiness. I’m transforming into a beacon of positivity.

A smart cat does not need nine lives.

A single lifetime with meaning and purpose is worth more than all nine lives combined.

So in my case, curiosity didn’t kill the cat.

It’s my curiosity that led me to witness the metamorphosis.

Now my eyes are open to the true nature of life. And I am transformed from an unfortunate black cat to a cat with a life of purpose.

After all, isn’t it the responsibility of every cat to keep up the adage that a cat will always land on all four feet?

  1. The christening of MMC 2.0 from Mohan Mathew Chacko is itself a phenomenal; “Metamorphosis”.

Believe, as a human we need to do introspection to bring about the best in us to become a better person…. The Black Cat Within Us!!!
