The Ferry I Watched, the City I Discovered.
I had watched the ferry arrive and depart from Lynn almost every day.
Its horn before departure was familiar music.
One evening, I decided to stop watching and hop aboard.

There were just two passengers on the large catamaran: another traveller and me.
Back home, where ferries are often packed like rush-hour buses, this was unimaginable.
Had everyone else received a memo about a better place to be?

Boston greeted me with a sky streaked in gold and blue, boats scattered across the shimmering harbour and a skyline glowing in the evening light.

My camera went into overdrive; one photograph was never quite enough.
Keeping to the downtown waterfront and its nearby streets, I explored two wharves, discovering elegant yachts, old sailing vessels, historic brick buildings and modern towers sharing the scene.

As daylight faded, Boston changed costume.
Buildings lit up, and Halloween-themed tour buses promised spooky adventures.

Little Free Libraries offered books to borrow or share.
A charming idea, without a librarian hovering over overdue returns!

At 7.15 pm, I boarded the same ferry for Lynn. Boston sparkled behind us, its lights dancing on the dark water.
I kept turning for one last photograph, conducting what might have looked like a farewell inspection.

As Lynn appeared ahead, I realised that some of the happiest outings are the ones we undertake simply because curiosity nudges us out the door.

Boston is a very nice city. We’ve been there many times and I recognized many of your photos. Great photos by the way!
